Mumbai: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Wednesday warned he wouldn’t allow Jet Airways flights to take off from Maharashtra if the airline does take back the services of 850 employees.
"If they are adamant about the issue then I too will ensure that no Jet Airways flight takes off from Maharashtra,” said Thackeray.
Thackeray said this after meeting a group of Jet employees, who called on him at his office in central Mumbai after losing their jobs.
Around 300 Jet Airways employees, including cabin-crew, staged a protest outside the airline's office in Mumbai against the management's move to retrench them.
The Central government refused to step into the controversy. “I don't think as Civil Aviation Minister I can give any directive on HR issues, because they are by governed by separate laws authorities and there are separate authorities designated to look after such issues,” said Praful Patel.
