New Delhi: BJP Parliamentary Party leader Narendra Modi will take oath as the 15th Prime Minister of the country on Monday. Modi began his journey to 7 Race Course Road by paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.
The swearing-in ceremony will take place at the forecourt of the Rashtrapati Bhavan at 6 PM. It is only the third time that swearing-in of a prime minister is being held at the forecourt of the Presidential estate.
The mega event will be attended by around 4,000 Indian and foreign dignitaries, including key leaders from all the seven SAARC nations. All eyes are set on Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who is scheduled to arrive on Monday.
Massive security arrangements at par with Republic Day are in place. Over 6,000 Delhi Police personnel are being deployed including SPG and para military personnel deployed in and around the Rashtrapati Bhawan.
All routes leading to the North Block and South Block will be cordoned off on Monday and Section 144 will be imposed for the high profile ceremony.
"Snipers will be positioned on top of building, skyscrapers and air defence mechanism will be in place," said Delhi Police Joint Commissioner MK Meena.
