New Delhi: The newly-elected BJP MLAs of Gujarat met in Gandhinagar and elected Modi as the leader of the BJP legislature party on Monday.
Modi is expected to meet the Governor to stake claim to form government. He is to take oath of office tomorrow. Modi is to meet his core group of leaders in the evening to discuss the composition of his ministry. Modi is now being seen as a potential national player. But will he be acceptable to the NDA allies on the national stage?
The party romped home to a resounding victory in the Assembly elections bagging 117 out of the 182 seats in the Assembly.
Victory seems to have made Modi rather forgiving.
Referring indirectly to BJP rebels like Keshubhai Patel, he stressed that forgetting the past is the need of the hour. “In this great family, each one has a purpose whether they stand with us or not. They may have made mistakes in the past. It is not our place to forgive them, but we can embrace them once again,” says Modi.
Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitely, has lauded the development model in Gujarat and said that the whole nation can take a lesson from it. “BJP's model of development is Gujarat which has set an example for the country unlike the left's example of development in the form of Nandigram,” adds Arun Jaitley.
Narendra Modi is expected to meet his core group of leaders on Monday evening to decide on the council of ministers.
