Mirzapur: Criticising UP Chief Minister Mayawati for advocating quota for Muslims, the BJP on Sunday alleged that she was misleading the community and also insulting Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, who was opposed to reservation on religious grounds.
"The state government is misleading the Muslims by talking about reservation to them," BJP national vice-president Kalraj Mishra on Sunday said.
"Both, the Centre and state governments are talking about 15 per cent reservation to them, they should first tell that this provision would be from which quota," Mishra said on the fourth day of his Jan Swabhiman Yatra.
"Chief Minister Mayawati is insulting Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar as he was opposed to reservation on religious lines," Mishra alleged.
A poor person is a poor person and he has no caste or religion, he said.
"The Centre and the state are trying to ignite communal passions in the country," the BJP leader alleged. He alleged that Mayawati was wary of senior party leader LK Advani's 'Jan Chetna Yatra' and therefore she inaugurated Rs 700 crore park in Noida.
"Her rhetoric of being a dalit's daughter is nothing more than an attempt to cheat dalits.
"BSP government in UP is an associate of the Centre in corruption whether its MNREGA or NRHM," Mishra alleged.
