New Delhi: BSP chief Mayawati on Monday said the BJP and the Samajwadi Party would join hands after the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls to safeguard each other's interests.
Addressing an election rally in Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati said that BSP will form a government in the state only if it secured an absolute majority.
“Both the BJP and the SP would enter into a secret pact after the polls to protect each other's interest,” Mayawati said, adding the Mulayam Singh Yadav government, too, was formed with the help of the saffron party.
Attacking the SP-led dispensation in the state, the BSP leader said if voted to power her government would order a probe into "misdeeds" of the previous regime.
Meanwhile, Mayawati took the opportunity to laud the Election Commission for ensuring free and fair polls in the state.
Addressing another election rally in Etah, Mayawati defended her party's decision to give tickets to upper castes saying it was BSP's endeavour to improve all sections of the society.
