Kochi: A bullet proof vehicle, which brought senior BJP leader LK Advani and his daughter Pratibha Advani to the Nedumabassery airport on Sunday evening from their hotel in Kochi for their onward journey to Bangalore, was found to have leaked fuel.
Advani, who had completed the Kerala leg of his 'Jan Chethana Yatra' in Kochi by addressing a public meeting at the Marine Drive grounds on Saturday night, was brought to the airport to board a chartered flight to Bangalore.
The leakage was noticed after Advani boarded the aircraft and the vehicle was tugged away to the Nedumbassery police station, police sources said.
The vehicle belongs to the Intelligence wing of the police.
Ernakulam Rural SP Harshita Attaluri said that she had asked for a report into the incident. "We are enquiring into it," she said.
Asked if there was any security lapse, the official replied in the negative. "Advani had boarded the flight safely. After he left, the vehicle could not be started and it had to be pulled out," she said.
Experts would examine the vehicle and file a report, police said.
