New Delhi: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Major General B C Khanduri has made it clear that he will not move into the official residence allotted to the state CM as a central agency has declared the British Raj building unsafe for staying.
"I will not shift to the old bunglow," news agency PTI quoted Khanduri as saying.
Khanduri, who is presently staying at Bijapur Guest House, will be shifting to a new official residence next month.
A Roorkee-based Central Building and Road Institution (CBRI) has declared the Cantontment Road building as unsafe following a survey, a detailed report of which has already been submitted to the government.
The government is planning to demolish the building, a top official said.
"We are now constructing a new house for the Chief Minister and it would be ready by next month," PTI quoted a top official as saying.
Khanduri, the first Garhwali leader to assume the chief ministership in the state, is the fourth Chief Minister of the hill state.
