Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) on Tuesday indicated that it will fight the coming General Elections for the six Lok Sabha seats in the state in alliance with other opposition parties especially the PDP and BJP.
"We hope that the Lok Sabha elections will be fought unitedly by the opposition as was witnessed in the recently held elections to the legislative council", JKNPP Chairman Bhim Singh told reporters.
JKNPP Candidate Syed Rafiq Shah won the Legislative Council election with the support of PDP and BJP members.
He said his party thanks the entire opposition including PDP and BJP for assisting his party to win a legislative seat against Congress-NC alliance.
Singh said chairman of the parliamentary board of his party Harsh Dev Singh has been authorized to negotiate with other political parties on the remaining five seats in the state as the board has already cleared Singh's name for Udhampur Parliamentary constituency.
Singh sought the Election Commission's intervention in restraining Jammu and Kashmir Government from what he called "indulging in corrupt practice and stop the blackmail by J and K police in the name of recruitment which has been started after the model code of conduct came into force".
He also said the Congress-NC government in the state will fall after the Lok Sabha polls because of the contradictory policies and programmes of the two parties.
