JDU attacks Congress, BSP on corruption
JDU Chief Sharad Yadav said that the party has been working against corruption throughout whether in Parliament or outside it.

New Delhi: Terming the assembly election in five states as the "semifinals" ahead of general elections, JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav on Sunday attacked the Congress and BSP on the issue of corruption.

Addressing a protest rally against corruption here, Yadav said, "Whether it is 'haathi' (elephant, BSP's symbol) or 'panja' (Congress symbol hand), they all have looted the country. JD(U) on the other hand has been working against corruption throughout whether in Parliament or outside it".

Yadav said that Congress never had the intention to bring a strong Lokpal legislation and has kept a "weak" one surviving by disallowing vote in Rajya Sabha where they didn't have majority.

"They say opposition blocked Lokpal from being passed in Rajya Sabha but then how could the opposition allow such a handicapped bill to be passed? The bill would have to be made from the scratch to get it passed in Rajya Sabha," Yadav said.

He said the forthcoming polls in five states were "semi-finals" ahead of the general elections and its results would clarify as to who has been right and who has been wrong.

The JD(U) has decided to contest all 403 assembly seats in UP after failure of talks with NDA ally BJP for a tie-up. "It doesn't matter where the issue stands currently, but how could BJP in the first place itself allow a corrupt man like Kushwaha in their party? It is now there internal matter but it was a bad precedent set by the BJP," JD(U) General Secretary Arun Kumar Srivastava said.

BJP has been under attack from friends and foes for admitting Kushwaha, a former family welfare minister in Mayawati government who is an accused in the multi-crore NRHM scam.
