New Delhi: With Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday telling the Supreme Court that he never blamed Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh for killing Mahatma Gandhi, Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu hoped wisdom will prevail upon the Gandhi scion not to make offensive remarks against a nationalist organisation.
"I hope wisdom will prevail upon him and others not to make such offensive remarks against a nationalist organisation," Naidu said when asked to react on Rahul's statement in court.
The minister jokingly also said, "It was only a film earlier, it was not real."
As the political slugfest between Congress and RSS seemed to be drawing to a conclusion, Rahul sought to put the record straight by telling the apex court that he had never blamed RSS as an institution for killing Mahatma Gandhi but persons associated with it were behind the assassination.
He buttressed his stand by citing paragraphs from his affidavit filed in the Bombay High Court, while challenging the summons issued to him as an accused for his alleged defamatory statement in a 2015 election rally in Maharashtra.
