Lucknow: After taking the views of the political parties on Wednesday, on the preparation for the five-phase Lok Sabha polls on 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh, the full Election Commission headed by Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalaswami commenced discussions with the state officials.
The delebrations started at around 0945 hrs with participation of DMs, SPs, SSPs, Divisional Commissioners, DIGs and Range IGs
of 71 districts.
According to the sources, the Election Commissioners including Mr Gopalaswami, Navin Chawala and S Y Quereshi were taking all notes
about the problems and suggestions being raised during the meeting.
The meeting is likely to go on till 1500 hrs as the ECs would try to ascertain the views of the officials in each and every 80 LS constituencies.
In the evening, the Election Commission would also meet the state Chief Secretary Atul Kumar Gupta and the State Director General of Police(DGP) Vikram Singh.
Last night, the opposition parties urged the Commission to deploy adequate central forces in the state to prevent what they termed the ''conspiracy'' of the BSP government to rig the polls.
The Samajwadi Party even went ahead in giving names of seven senior state officials who should be removed immediately. These officials included the state cabinet secretary, additional cabinet secretary, DGP, Home Secretary, and ADG (law and Order).
The parties also raised objections on the electoral rollsand urged the EC not to deploy state police inside the polling booth. The Election Commission would leave for Patna on Friday.
