BJP can promote Hindutva: Gowda
H D Deve Gowda told it’s party's ruling coalition partner that it was free to propagate Hindutva at national level.

New Delhi: JDS Supremo H D Deve Gowda on Monday told it’s party's ruling coalition partner in Karnataka that it was free to propagate Hindutva at the national level but must remain committed to the Common Minimum Programme in the state.

"Karnataka Development Front (of BJP and JDS) programmes are the Bible, the Quran and the Geeta (Bhagavadgita) for this government," PTI quoted him as saying.

Gowda added that maintaining equidistance from the economic and political philosophy of BJP and Congress was the party’s guideline.

Complementing the JDS-BJP government for maintaining the law and order situation, Gowda said the JDS-led coalition had maintained its secular credentials within the parameters accepted by KDF.

He said each coalition partner has its priorities, and its ideology to look after. Yet, he observed that it was the welfare of the people, especially the common man and the disadvantaged sections of society that was and should be the main concern of any party.
