This is the 2nd incident in which a senior CPM leader has used unpalatable language against Mamata.

Kolkata: Trinamool Congress on Friday lodged a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer in West Bengal against state Minister Sushanta Ghosh for using foul language against TMC chief Mamata Banerjee at an election meeting.

This is the second incident in a week in which Trinamool Congress lodged a complaint against a senior CPM leader for using unpalatable language against Mamata.

Additional CEO in West Bengal N K Sahana told reporters in Kolkata on Friday that the CEO received the complaint that Ghosh, the Paschimanchal Unnayan Affairs minister, had attacked Mamata in filthy language at an election meeting at Pataspur in East Midnapore district.

"We have immediately asked the District Electoral Officer to send his report on this along with video clipping of the meeting to the CEO," Sahana said.

"Once we receive the report and video clipping, we will send it to the Election Commission along with a transcription of the statement against which complaint has been lodged," Sahana added.

This was for the second time such a complaint was lodged with the Commission by the opposition political party with veteran CPM leader Anil Basu hurling filthy language against Mamata at an election meeting at Arambagh in Hooghly district last Friday.

Under pressure from the party and Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, Basu, however, apologised the next day for his comments.

Asking Basu, a former MP, to be cautious in future, Chief Minister had said in a statement that "use of such words is unpardonable and unbecoming of a Communist leader."
