Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday spelled out his stand on visiting the Ram Temple, saying he is yet to get the final invitation, but will visit Ayodhya after January 22.
When asked whether he will go to Ayodhya, Kejriwal, after flagging off the 87th pilgrims’ train, this time with Dwarkadeesh as its destination, said, “They had sent a letter. When we called them up, they said that they will send their team personally for the final invitation. However, no team came. It does not matter. In the letter, they have written that many VIPs and VVIPs will come. So keeping the security concerns in mind, just one person is allowed for now. I don’t know about the final invitation. However, I want to go there with my wife and children. Even my parents are very eager to take the darshan of Ram Lalla. I will go with my parents, wife and children. We will go later, now there is too much going on for January 22.”
The clarification came after the AAP organised recitation of the Sunderkand across 70 assembly constituencies in Delhi on Tuesday ahead of the grand pran pratishtha ceremony on January 22.
Keeping in mind that the demand for Ayodhya may rise sharply after the pran pratishtha ceremony, Kejriwal further said, “After January 22, when the temple will be inaugurated, we will try for more and more trains for Ayodhya. People are very enthusiastic about going to Ayodhya and taking the darshan of Ram Lalla.”

The AAP supremo had offered prayers at the famous Hanuman Garhi and Ram Temple in Ayodhya in October 2021. Ahead of the 2020 assembly elections in Delhi, when there was a threat of polarisation in Delhi, Kejriwal had recited the Hanuman Chalisa to show that he is a believer and a bhakt of Lord Hanuman. Later in the Delhi Assembly, Kejriwal had vowed to bring in ‘Ram Rajya’ in the capital. He had also gone on to define the 10 principles like free and good quality health, education and security for women, among others, which would define a ‘Ram Rajya’.
Meanwhile in Gujarat, AAP’s state chief Isudhan Gadhvi has declared that the party will participate in the build up to and inauguration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Gadhvi said that on January 20, which is a Saturday, recitation of the Sunderkand will be organised in all districts and municipalities. On January 21, the party’s ‘Ram bhakts’ will organise ‘Ram Dhuns’ and on January 22, the party will organise maha aartis and mahaprasad in every district. Not just that, many AAP workers and activists, he said, have already reached Ayodhya to participate in the pran pratishtha ceremony.
