New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party government's Janata Darbar didn't exactly turn out the way Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal would have expected it to. While it was organised for the people to talk to the Delhi Cabinet about their issues, the Janata Darbar itself became an issue with chaos, confusion and mismanagement.
The Delhi ministers may have well realised that this Janata Darbar went wrong as they came up with excuses for the huge turnout. Delhi Labour Minister Girish Soni admitted that there was mismanagement at the venue and that not many people who came at the Darbar would have had genuine issues. He even said that some people just came to see or meet Kejriwal.
In fact, while speaking to IBNLive, he also said that people had come to the Darbar with petty issues like personal disputes with their neighbours. "Many people here have come to just see and meet Arvind Kejriwal. I agree that many people do have genuine problems, but some have come to us with problems we can't solve. Someone came to us complaining about a fight with his neighbour," Soni said.
Girish Soni, however, didn't fall short of blaming the previous governments of Delhi for the huge crowd. "The turnout of people here shows that the previous governments in Delhi failed to solve their issues and so they are now hoping that our AAP government will address them," Soni said.
When asked what can be the ways of managing the Janata Darbar better, Soni said that the crowds may keep getting smaller as we start addressing their issues. Another solution he offered was, "At the entry point itself there should be a check of whether the person's issue is genuine and what ministry does that issue concern."
However, Soni said not all issues can be solved immediately. "There are some issues that are policy-related matters. They may even take three months or six months to be solved. But we will keep working on them," Soni said.
