Opinion | ‘Verbal Inquisition’ by Padres, Politicians and Pueriles
India is overcrowded with foreign-funded proselytisers, NGOs, actors, and even bureaucrats, who ridicule Hinduism by latching on to three undefined terms — caste, secularism, and minority. But the term ‘caste’ is entirely Portuguese in origin

The 2024 General Elections are a few months away, but preparations by ambitious prime ministerial claimants and their sycophants have commenced. Small storms are being set in motion, designed to be a whirlwind engulfing the entire nation as also a global whirlwind, eyeing the Indian diaspora. A motley crowd of corrupt politicians, retired and serving bureaucrats, fanatic proselytisers, paid journalists, fading film stars, NGOs, drug mafias, foreign universities, their professors, writers, and thinkers, have been enlisted, for displacing Narendra Modi and dethroning the BJP government.

As a chunk of the BJP’s voter base comprises Hindus, the grand strategy is to attack Hindu religion, beliefs, customs, traditions and rituals. Opposition-ruled states are convenient launchpads for this offensive. The police and state administration can be misused to threaten and coerce the print and visual media, outsmart the judiciary, and give free rein to hooligans and goondas.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin is keenly eyeing the prime ministerial chair, just like others in the I.N.D.I.A alliance. It is only natural that the first of the storms should be set in motion from Tamil Nadu. Who better than the neophyte son Udhayanidhi Stalin, also a state minister, to initiate the battle against Sanatana Dharma? Both father and son have adopted the name of mass murderer Joseph Stalin, who killed millions of Christians, Muslims and Jews. Son sports the Sanskrit-Hindu name combination — Udaya + Nidhi — and Stalin from the Russian language. Not a trace of Tamil or Dravidian element in the name, yet he pretends to be a defender of Dravidian culture and Tamil language. His wife is known by the Hindu name Kiruthiga (Sanskrit – Krithika), one of the 27 stars (nakshatras) in Hindu astrology. The day of Kiruthigai nakshatra is auspicious for Lord Karthikeya’s worship. She professes Christian faith, yet prefers the Hindu name.

In December 2022, Udhayanidhi Stalin declared at a Christmas celebration event in Chennai’s Harbour constituency, “I am proud to call myself a Christian, all the Sanghis today will be burning.” The next salvo was fired on September 4, 2023, by equating Sanatana Dharma with “mosquitoes, Dengue, Malaria, fever and Corona”, adding that it should be “eradicated” like these ailments. Predictably, this obnoxious statement erupted into a national controversy and was a clear call for Hindu genocide, yet, no state or Central agency has intervened to haul him up the coals.

To make it into a ‘politico-religious’ offensive, rabble-rouser evangelist Bishop Ezra Sargunam has entered the fray, thundering, “there is nothing called Hindu religion, Hinduism is an artificial religion. Punch them in their face couple of times, make them bleed and help them understand the truth.” He is also sporting a Hindu name — Sargunam — a Sanskrit term meaning all qualities ascribed in Hinduism to the supreme God. The term ‘nirguna’ conveys the opposite. ‘Ezra’ is the Hebrew word ‘azar’, meaning ‘help’ or ‘protect’. He belongs to the Protestant caste and works as a Bishop of the Evangelical Church of India (ECI).

In neighbouring Kerala, Legislative Assembly Speaker A.N. Shamseer in July 2023 was ridiculing that “Lord Ganesha and Pushpaka Vimana are not science. Those are all myths. Superstitions of the Hindutva era will hold back progress.” Shamseer took care not to criticise other religions, especially his.

India is today overcrowded with foreign-funded proselytisers, NGOs, actors, journalists, and even bureaucrats, who are ridiculing Hinduism by latching on to three undefined terms — caste, secularism, and minority.

Hinduism is constantly vilified using the term ‘caste’, which is entirely Portuguese in origin. In the 1300s, the Portuguese were forcibly converting Jews to Christianity. These convert Jews rose to prominent positions in the Church, leading to enmity between “original” Christian clergy and the converted Jews. A campaign was launched that only “original” Christians were superior. The idea of a “casta,” a classification based on descent, was formed. Members of the Jewish “casta” were treated as outcasts. When Portuguese pirates came to India, they used the same classification system.

In Portugal, the socio-religious hierarchy had three main castes: the nobility, the clergy, and the commoners. The nobility consisted of the aristocracy and the royal family. The clergy comprised priests and bishops. The lower castes represented the majority of the population, including merchants, artisans, and peasants. These three castes shared similarities with the Christian-Spanish caste system, known as ‘Castizo’, a hierarchy of socio-racial classification. Each caste had strict rules that determined their wealth, career, attire, and even the friendships that they were allowed to have, though all castes professed the Christian faith. The Spaniards had set up the barbaric Spanish Inquisition to convert Jews and Muslims. The Goan Inquisition, modelled on the Spanish Inquisition, was directed against Hindus, Jains Muslims, and Sephardic Jews. Sephardic Jews were those who had fled from the Iberian Peninsula to escape the Spanish Inquisition and who took refuge in Goa.

The Goan Inquisition was established on March 2, 1560. The notorious Francis Xavier supervised the horrific tortures, burnings and mutilations, inflicted on innocent men, women and even small children. The torture of women was an every-night after-dinner affair for the Padres, who after raping them, would use breast pliers, red hot spikes and other gory instruments to maim and kill them.

Ezra Sargunam’s virulence, exhorting violence against Hindus — “Punch them in their face couple of times, make them bleed and help them understand the truth” — is a ‘direct action’ call for starting a Tamil Nadu Inquisition. But examine the tall claims about inter-faith dialogue made by the Ecumenical Church, in their opening prayer.  “God of all people, open our hearts to understanding other faith traditions. We are all made in your image and seek to know and follow your ways, to praise you, and to be instruments of your Holy presence. May we respect those who are different from us, who follow a different faith tradition than us. May we seek to know the truth of your Word and find common ground among the many faith traditions and recognize that we share a common humanity. Help us to be people of compassion and understanding, creating a path to a peaceful coexistence among all people. Amen.”

“The pluralism and the diversity of religions, colour, sex, race and language are willed by God in His wisdom, through which He created human beings. This divine wisdom is the source from which the right to freedom of belief and the freedom to be different derives.” – Document on human fraternity, signed by Pope Francis and Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, on February 4, 2019.

The Second Vatican Council promulgated the Declaration on the Relation of the Church to Non-Christian Religions, called Nostra Aetate. This 1965 document reversed the Catholic Church’s approach to non-Christian religions, changing its stance from being the sole possessor of the truth to acknowledging that non-Christian religions “often reflect a ray of that Truth which enlightens all men” (paragraph 2).

By the above theoretical standards set by the Church itself, Ezra Sargunam is a renegade and deserves to be excommunicated from the Church.

Recently, anti-India forces have managed to instigate a caste war in America. SB 403 California’s Anti-Caste Discrimination Bill, was ironically introduced by State Senator Aisha Wahab, an Afghan-American Democrat, who kept quiet about the caste divisions in Semitic faiths. Terms like caste, secular, and minority are not used in any Western country in their Constitution, nor even in small countries like Bhutan, Singapore or Sri Lanka. Why is it that India alone is causing havoc for its citizens by relying on these foreign terms?

The Government of India should be ready for major conflagrations happening on multiple fronts directed against Hindus, Buddhists and Jains, as a prelude to General Elections 2024.
