Soybeans and soy products are loaded with health advantages. According to several reports, it helps in lowering the risk of coronary heart disease, and bone health. Consuming about four servings of soy-based meals each day with low-saturated-fat and cholesterol-containing foods can also lower the levels of bad cholesterol. However, one must consume soya with caution. Discussing the same, Dr Dimple, Ayurveda and Gut Health Coach dropped a video on her Instagram space.
In the video, she recommended people who have been consuming a lot of soya to stop. While explaining why one should do it, she said, “Soya is an endocrine disruptor because it mimics estrogen in the body. It has a specific compound called Isoflavones, which also messes with the thyroid function.” Besides, she mentioned in her caption that “Isoflavones, can promote the growth of some cancer cells.” Adding on, she said that it is a hard-to-digest protein and Ayurveda does not recommend it. “Consume with caution,” She wrote in her caption.
She also claims that soya is energetically considered heavy for one’s mind. “Soy protein isolates, have more anti-nutrients, where the protein has been isolated from the soybean. During processing, valuable vitamins and minerals get stripped away, and instead, chemicals, get introduced into your body,” she wrote in her post.
Following this, she shared an alternative. She told people to start consuming chickpeas instead. These are also packed with protein. She claims that it is a great source of protein, carbs, good fats and fibre. Moreover, it has all the amino acids except sulphur. It also has folate, magnesium, calcium, potassium, and iron apart from vitamins A, E, B6, and C.
