Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday asserted that Telangana’s all-round development is among BJP’s top priorities and that the party is making continuous efforts for the development of the state. Addressing a public rally after the BJP’s National Executive Meeting in Hyderabad, the PM said, “The people of Telangana are known all over the world for their hard work and dedication towards the development of the country. The development of Telangana, all-round development, is one of the first priorities of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Following the mantra of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas, we are making continuous efforts for the development of Telangana.”
The prime minister further said that BJP’s public support in Telangana is increasing. Modi also hailed the welfare schemes being undertaken by the BJP in the state and how people were getting benefitted through them without any biases.
“Free ration to the poor of Telangana, free treatment to the poor, everyone is getting the benefit of the policies of the BJP government without discrimination. This is the development of all. This is the reason why common citizens of the country have so much faith in the BJP today.”
“Lakhs of poor mothers-sisters-daughters of Telangana have got a life of honour through Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Lakhs of poor sisters of Telangana have got freedom from smoke due to free gas connection from Ujjwala scheme,” Modi said. “The women of the country are also feeling today that their life has become easier, their convenience has increased. Now they can contribute more to the development of the nation,” he added.
At the BJP’s National Executive Meeting in Hyderabad earlier on Sunday, PM Modi told party leaders that BJP’s policy is to take India from appeasement to fulfilment, said former Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad. Addressing the media in Hyderabad after the meeting, Prasad said, “In states where they (party workers) are suffering enormous hardship and yet remain firm to ideology… PM Modi stated that our aim should be to make it clear that our thought process should be from appeasement to fulfilment.”
The prime minister also spoke about those political parties — without naming anyone — that are battling to survive but added that BJP shouldn’t mock them and instead learn from them. “PM Modi spoke about various parties that are fighting for their existence and that neither we should laugh at them nor mock them. Instead, we should learn from them and refrain from committing such acts that they have committed,” Prasad said.
The BJP leader further said that PM Modi “noted the rapid expansion of BJP over the years in the country. “He very proudly conveyed his profound appreciation for the courage of all party workers in states like Telangana, West Bengal, and Kerala.”
On the renaming of Hyderabad, “PM Modi said that Hyderabad is Bhagyanagar which is significant for all of us”. “Sardar Patel kept the foundation of a unified India and now it’s BJP’s responsibility to carry it further,” he added.
The prime minister also hit back at opposition parties for questioning the BJP’s democratic credentials and asked what is the status of democracy within their organisations. Modi asked BJP workers to undertake a ‘Sneh Yatra’ and reach out to all sections of society.
PM Modi later took to Twitter to talk about the executive meet. “Addressed the @BJP4India National Executive meeting in Hyderabad. Talked about a wide range of issues including our Party’s development agenda, the pro-people efforts in the last 8 years and ways to further deepen our connect with the people.”

Earlier on Sunday, senior BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah asserted that the next 30 to 40 years will be the era of his party and India will become a “vishwa guru” (world leader). While proposing the political resolution at the BJP national executive meeting here, Shah said “dynastic politics, casteism and politics of appeasement” were the “greatest sins” and the reason behind the country’s sufferings over the years.
Shah also moved a political resolution which mentions candidature for the Presidential election, the government in Maharashtra and other political issues in the country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech is also expected to be the key focus in today’s meet. While Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai will speak on the political resolution, Himachal Pradesh CM Jai Ram Thakur will make a presentation on the situation and the political scenario in the poll-bound state.
Here are the top updates from the BJP meet:
- Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said Shah cited the BJP’s win in a series of polls to assert that it underlined people’s approval of the party’s “politics of development and performance” and called for ending the politics of family rule, casteism and appeasement. The home minister said the BJP will end family rule in states like Telangana and West Bengal and also come to power in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Odisha among other states which have so far remained out of the saffron party’s power march since it formed government at the Centre in 2014.
- At the meeting, Shah also hailed as “historic” the recent Supreme Court verdict, dismissing a plea of Zakia Jafri, the wife of slain MP Ehsan Jafri, challenging the Special Investigation Team’s (SIT) clean chit to 64 people, including then chief minister Narendra Modi, in the 2002 Gujarat riots case. The court had also come down hard on petitioners. The BJP leader said Modi maintained silence while facing SIT probe over his alleged role in the riots and kept his faith in the Constitution.
- Home Minister Amit Shah slammed the Congress-led opposition parties and accused them of playing negative politics. “Be it Covid, surgical strike or the protests against ED questioning of Rahul Gandhi, it collaborated with divisive agents who wants to spread confusion,” Shah said.
- He then took a swipe at the Congress for allegedly trying to spread anarchy after its leader Rahul Gandhi was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate in the National Herald case. Modi never did the kind of “drama”, Sarma said in a dig at Gandhi In his speech, Shah said Modi digested all the poison thrown at him like Lord Shiva.
- Shah also slammed Congress leaders for their statement on Kashmir and their “attempts to internationalise the issue”.
- Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Aditynath on Sunday visited Shri Bhagyalakshmi Temple abutting the historic Charminar located here. Yogi, who spent about 20 minutes at the temple, offered special prayers. He was accompanied by BJP Telangana president Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Rajya sabha member K Laxman and MLA Raja Singh.
- BJP president JP Nadda Saturday accused the Opposition of pursuing “destructive” politics and opposing India in their zeal to oppose Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and asserted that while his party is engaged in empowering the poor the rivals are busy in empowering their own families.
- As nearly 350 BJP delegates, including members of its top brass like PM Modi, congregated here on the first day of its national executive meeting, the party announced a host of activities with its eyes firmly set on the next round of polls, including the all important Lok Sabha elections in 2024.
- In his speech at the party’s office-bearers’ meeting followed by his inaugural address at the national executive, Nadda hit out at the Opposition for its “corruption” and “family rule” and accused it of acting irresponsibly by “misleading” people on issues like vaccination, farm reform laws (now repealed) and surgical strikes on terror camps inside Pakistan.
- BJP National Executive Committee paid tribute to Udaipur tailor Kanhaiya Lal, who was brutally killed, and Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. Sources said that the condolence message read out in the meeting mentioned names of Lal and Moosewala.
