Internal politics could be one of the prime reasons for Israel to not have gauged or predicted the attack in Gaza from arch-nemesis Palestine on October 7. Around 500 people have died in the deadly attack in the Israeli-Palestinian history.
Top intelligence sources tell News18 that Israel has been “distracted” due to domestic matters such as an unstable government, public demonstrations and people refusing to serve in the Israeli military.
The Israeli government makes it mandatory for every Jewish, Druze or Circassian above 18 years of age to serve in the military.
The Covid-19 pandemic took a toll on the Israeli government. Many Israelites had distrust in the government the way it handled the public health emergency, including vaccination requirements and public restrictions.

Israel-Arab Relations Not Well
Israel currently has diplomatic relations with five Arab countries – Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, UAE and Bahrain.
Trade between Israel and the UAE surpassed $2.5 billion in 2022 and reached $1.85 billion in the first seven months of 2023 according to Reuters news agency.
But intelligence sources say the Israeli government was just printing propaganda in the newspapers but not actually working towards the diplomatic relations with the countries.
Saudi Arabia is against Israel and has banned discussions with the island country. It’s not Mohammed Bin Salman (MBS) who is taking decisions on Israel but Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud’s supporters who are guiding MBS.
In fact, the Saudi Press Agency published two stories about the attack in Gaza on Saturday morning, and referred to Palestinians who died in Israeli shelling as “martyrs”, according to The New York Times.
