A historic win for the Netherlands saw them leapfrog Sri Lanka in the points table of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. The Dutch are off the mark in style, they beat South Africa by 38 runs at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on Tuesday, October 17. It was only the third-ever victory in the history of the ODI World Cup for the Oranje, who had beaten Scotland in the 2007 World Cup and prevailed over Namibia after that.
A victory for South Africa would have guaranteed the top spot courtesy of their massive net run rate, but since they failed to overcome the Dutch, the Proteas remain in third place, while Rohit Sharma-led Indian team continue to sit pretty atop the ODI World Cup points table.
New Zealand are level on points with India, but have an inferior net run rate, although the Kiwis are in action on Wednesday when they take on Afghanistan in Chennai.
