Thinking of buying an imported iPhone 15 Pro because it’s cheaper than the Indian unit? Or maybe you’re planning to ask your relative to get you one from the US? Just remember that it might only come with an eSIM.
With iPhone 15 models now available in India, a considerable number of new buyers have rushed to both offline and online channels to purchase the latest offerings from Apple. It cannot be denied that the iPhone 15 Pro is quite an expensive phone to acquire this time around, starting at Rs 1,34,900, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max takes it a step further at Rs 1,59,900.
Simultaneously, the grey market practice of importing units of the iPhone Pro models (iPhone 15 Pro this time) also continues to thrive. It is worth noting that people often request their friends and family to buy them an iPhone from abroad. The reason behind this is that iPhone Pro models are cheaper in countries like the US and the UAE.
As a result, both offline retailers and buyers seeking to save money tend to opt for these imported units from countries where iPhones are priced lower.
However, many individuals are unaware of the potential drawback associated with an ‘international’ iPhone. The most common issue is the absence of a physical SIM slot. Indeed, if someone purchases an iPhone from the US, they will only have the option of using an eSIM with their iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15, as Apple has stopped selling phones with physical slots in the country.
So, if you want a physical SIM slot, it is advisable to avoid buying a US variant. On the other hand, if you choose to purchase from other regions such as Europe and the UAE, you should be good to go—as these models still include a single SIM slot.
What if you require physical Dual SIM Slots?
In case you are not aware, iPhones sold in Hong Kong come with physical dual SIM slots—allowing you to use two SIM cards simultaneously. This functionality is not available even in the Indian variant of the iPhone 15 Pro, which provides the option of adding one physical SIM and one eSIM.
These are some important points to keep in mind before purchasing an iPhone 15 Pro sourced from outside India.
