The schedule for the men’s cricket event at the Asian Games 2022 was announced on Tuesday. As many as 14 teams will compete for the gold as the event begins on September 27 while the final – the gold medal game – will be played on October 7.

As per the schedule, the top 4 ICC T20I-ranked teams are seeded directly in the quarter-finals. The 5th ranked side will qualify for the quarter-final by virtue of their ICC rankings.
The preliminary round has been divide into three groups – A, B & C. The Group A comprises Nepal, Maldives and Mongolia. The participants of Group B are Hong Kong, Japan and Cambodia. The likes of Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand constitute the Group C. The top team from each group will qualify for the quarter-finals.
Seeded teams are – India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan is the 5th top-ranked team.
The fifth ICC T20I ranked team – Afghanistan, winner of Group A and B and the winner of the qualifier will have a draw of lots to decide which position they will be placed in for the quarterfinals.
Schedule for the quarter-finals
The first and the second quarter-finals will take place on October 3. India will compete in QF1 while Pakistan will feature in QF2.
Sri Lanka will play the QF 3 on October 4 while the QF 4, to be played on the same day, will see Bangladesh locking horns with the qualifying team.
Schedule for the semi-finals
The first semi-final will be played on October 6. Later in the day, the second semi-final will take place.
The match for the third place – the bronze medal match – will be played on 7th October, right before the final.
