Today, it is Phoebe Litchfield’s world and we are all living in it.

The 20-year-old Litchfield brought up her century as she made 119 runs off 125 deliveries in an innings that included 16 fours and a six. But, she was not done for the day.

With India’s top order failing to produce any meaningful partnerships, the pressure was on the lower-order to bear the weight of the chase and produce a miracle.

But, at the end of the day, it was Litchfield who produced a moment of magic, as she stretched and grabbed Amanjot Kaur’s lofted drive down the ground out of thin air with one hand to help Alana King grab her first wicket of the match as India went down six wickets for a mere 102 runs.

The Australia opener also put on a stunning show with the bat in the first innings, as she smacked Indian bowlers left, right, and center to score her second ODI century, en route to helping Australia post a whopping 338 runs on the board for India to chase down.

The 338-run total also meant that the Australian women surpassed their previous best score of 332 runs against the Indian women at Vadodara in 2018.

This was the third time the Australian women’s side had breached the 300-run mark against India in the subcontinent after they initially reached the landmark back in the year 2012, also at the Wankhede.

Litchfield along with the aide of skipper Alyssa Healy registered a staggering 189-run opening partnership to get the Aussies going.

Upon their departures, the likes of Ashleigh Gardner, Annabel Sutherland, and Alana Kings all chipped in with contributions of their own as the women in yellow put up a total of 338 runs to rewrite the record books.

India are down 0-2 in the three-match ODI series and will only be hoping to save face and avoid utter humiliation in the hands of Australia.
