Priscilla Presley Denies Claims Of Being ‘Groomed’ At 14 After Meeting 24-Year-Old Elvis
When Piers Morgan inquired about critics' accusations of Elvis Presley "grooming" her during their dating years, Priscilla Presley rubbished the claims.

Filmmaker Sofia Coppola’s much-awaited film Priscilla premiered on November 3. The romance drama revolves around the life of Priscilla Presley — the wife of iconic American singer-actor Elvis Presley. The story centres around her chance encounter and whirlwind relationship with the King of rock-and-roll aka Elvis. Now, in a candid interview with journalist and television personality Piers Morgan on his talk show Piers Morgan Uncensored, 78-year-old Priscilla Presley opened her heart about her tumultuous relationship with Elvis and their late daughter Lisa Marie Presley’s brief marriage to legendary American singer-songwriter Michael Jackson.

In the interaction, when Piers Morgan asked Priscilla Presley to share her opinion on critics slamming Elvish Presley for allegedly “grooming" her at a time when they were dating, she had a befitting reply. “It was a different time. It was the early ’60s. I don’t know about grooming me, I didn’t take it at that. I never heard the word, I mean obviously, it’s all new now but, you know, he loved to take me to beautiful stores to buy me an outfit. I didn’t have any money and he would take me to the movies every night. That’s when you dressed up and he wanted me to look good and not feel bad," shared Priscilla. Elvis and Priscilla married in 1967 before getting divorced in 1973. While Elvis was 32 years old at that time, Priscilla was 21.

Priscilla Presley also talked about her daughter Lisa Marie Presley in the chat show. Lisa passed away in January this year after suffering from complications resulting from small bowel obstruction. During the conversation, Priscilla revealed that she had her qualms about her daughter marrying Michael Jackson. She believed that Michael Jackson decided to marry Lisa because he was “intrigued about Elvis". Recalling an earlier conversation with Lisa, Priscilla said that her daughter shared that Michael Jackson was “always gone", he used to call her “three or four days later" and justified his actions by saying he got “things to do".

“I know he (Michael Jackson) was a bit fearful of me… I have hardly talked to him because he always hides," added Priscilla Presley, as cited by Entertainment Today. Lisa Marie Presley and Michael Jackson married in 1995 before parting ways in 1996.

The film Priscilla is based on Priscilla Presley’s 1985 memoir Elvis and Me, demonstrating their relationship timeline. Priscilla was 14 when she first met Elvis in Germany, who was 24 at that time.
