Katrina Kaif is currently gearing up for the release for her highly anticipated thriller Merry Christmas. The actress will be seen sharing screen space with Vijay Sethupathi for the same. The makers recently dropped the film’s trailer and had garnered a terrific response from fans and audiences. Merry Christmas being a pan India film, Katrina also had to learn Tamil for the same. The actress recently recollected her shooting days and revealed that it was quite a task for her to learn the language.
While speaking to Mashable, the actress shared being extremely stressed and consumed about learning Tamil. She shared, “I was very very stressed and consumed with trying to learn my Tamil Lines. I wanted rehearse in a way, that they sound fresh and spontaneous [while shooting] . And that was for me a very very ( add another 50 very ) tough task.”
She added, “I find Tamil and Malayalam really really difficult. It’s hard to distinguish between the consonants and vowels.”
The trailer of Merry Christmas begins with a montage of various clips. On Christmas Eve, Katrina encounters Vijay Sethupathi and playfully questions whether he is single or if he discreetly removed his wedding ring upon seeing her. Soon, they head to her residence, and events take an unexpected turn. She requests him to stay, hinting that appearances can be deceiving. The narrative unfolds over the course of one night in what looks like an intriguing and suspenseful dark thriller.
Katrina recently attended the Red Sea Film Festival in Jeddah and said that her next film, Merry Christmas, is the most challenging film of her career yet. She said that working with director Sriram Raghavan had been a goal of hers. Katrina also added that her character in the film needed some emotional and artistic investment from her. Katrina also spoke about working with Vijay Sethupathi and said that she found him to be phenomenal and expressed her admiration for watching him switch between Hindi and Tamil languages.
The film also stars Sanjay Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Pratima Kannan, Tinnu Anand, Radhika Sarathkumar, Shanmugaraja, Kevin Jay Babu, Rajesh Williams, and Pari. Ashwini Kalsekar and Radhika Apte will also be seen in cameos in the film. Merry Christmas is produced by Ramesh Taurani, Jaya Taurani, Sanjay Routray and Kewal Garg.
