Chris Hemsworth Changes Lifestyle To Reduce Alzheimer's Risk: ‘I Do A Lot Of Meditation’
Chris Hemsworth is prioritising his health, especially after learning that he is at a higher risk of developing Alzheimer's disease.

In the 2022 National Geographic documentary series Limitless, Chris Hemsworth discovered heartbreaking news and came to know that he is at higher risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease compared to the average person. Nearly a year after this unsettling discovery, the Thor star has opened up about the impact and changes on his life. The Australian star, in a recent interview with Men’s Health, discussed that he is prioritising his health, with a particular focus on strengthening his mental well-being. He further disclosed that he has reshaped certain daily habits and said, “Now, I’m incorporating more solitude into my life.”

He explained, “I’ve always been pretty consistent with my exercise commitments, but lately I’ve really felt the importance of taking time for yourself without any outside voice or stimulation and making time for stillness. I do a lot of meditation and breathing work mostly during sauna and ice bath routines.”

“For me my favorite mindfulness work comes from the immersion in physical actives that allow me to be fully present and force me out of me head and into my body, in particular surfing. I have a more consistent approach to my sleep,” he said.

Chris Hemsworth highlighted that he refrains from using his mobile or watching TV at least an hour before bedtime and opts for reading instead. This practice helps in promoting better sleep quality. He also spoke about the importance of mental detachment and advised not to become too attached to every thought and “be the observer to the noise when possible, just stepping back from the internal chatter.” The actor acknowledges that his body weight fluctuates a lot these days from the various roles he undertakes in his acting career, each requiring different physical conditions.

The Extraction 2 star added, “I’m lifting less frequently than I was and I’m incorporating more cardio and endurance workouts which I much prefer than heavy body building style sessions.”

Apart from mental well-being, Chris Hemsworth is also making a conscious effort to enhance his work-life balance. Talking about his family, particularly his children and how they are rapidly growing up in a world that is constantly evolving. This has prompted him to prioritise being present in the moment and he no longer wishes to rush but instead aims to enjoy and appreciate every aspect of his life.

In the National Geographic interview, Dr Peter Attia provided Chris Hemsworth with an explanation regarding his genes. He mentioned that the actor has got two copies of APOE4, one from his mother and the other from his dad.
