Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal was released in theatres earlier this year and Triptii Dimri emerged as the film’s breakout star. She was declared as the “National crush” by fans and they cannot stop gushing over her performance. Even her social media following skyrocketed after the film’s release. Now, if the latest reports are to be believed, Triptii has been roped in to play the female lead in Aashiqui 3.
Pinkvilla quoted a source as saying, “Triptii has been the talk of the town following the historic success of Animal and the makers feel that she would set the screen on fire with Kartik Aaryan. The conversations have been on for quite some time and the makers have now locked her as the female lead.”
The Anurag Basu directorial will go on floors in the first quarter of 2024 and the other members of the cast will be locked soon. “It’s a new space for Kartik too and he will be looking to explore the intense side of romance. He has been a graduate of rom-coms and will now be switching zones to another world of love stories. He is also very excited to embark on this journey,” the source added.
Earlier, a Filmfare report claimed, “Tara Sutaria has been cast as the female lead in the much-loved franchise. The film is also reportedly supposed to go on floors in January next year.” However, director Anurag Basu has now told the Hindustan Times that these casting rumours are false. He said, “No, the female lead of the film has not been finalised yet. Everything out there is a speculation.”
As for Aashiqui 3, Bhushan Kumar had earlier told India Today, “Hopefully, we will start Anurag Basu and Kartik Aaryan’s film by the end of January.” Bhushan Kumar also informed that Aashiqui 3’s pre-production is already underway and the composers are mindfully working on churning out memorable melodies like the previous two movies.
