Actor Varun Badola needs no special introduction. The actor became a household name with his impactful performance in popular TV shows like Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand, Mere Dad Ki Dulhan, and Kumkum among others. Despite a successful career as an actor, Varun claimed he faced regular financial hardships as his savings came dangerously close to running out. In a heartfelt conversation with Siddharth Kannan, the actor revealed that the “bankruptcy keeps knocking at his door.”
Varun revealed that he had less than Rs 2 lakh left in his bank account a decade ago. The actor said, “I work for six months every two years, and then I don’t have work for two years. Bankruptcy keeps knocking at my door every few years, and then I have to tell myself to find work quickly. People ask me why I don’t work regularly, but if you notice, most actors around the world aren’t working non-stop.”
Varun, however, takes immense pride in being a part of television for over two decades. He added, “Sometimes, I’ll admit I feel like I could’ve had a bigger car, a bigger house, but surviving for 30 years in the industry is more important than having a big car.”
The actor shared that there was a time when he was not being offered any work and was down to one and a half or two months of savings. Emphasising how expenses go through the roof when there is a young child at home, the actor said that it was a challenge.
Varun credited his wife, actress Rajeshwari Sachdev, for handling the finances.
Varun is also known for his work in his films and web series like Guns & Gulaabs, Mission Raniganj, and Kohrra among others.
