Sidharth Malhotra has been grabbing headlines for his next film Mitti. There has not been any official confirmation till now but reportedly he has been busy in shooting for the film in Uttarakhand. Well, now Pinkvilla has reported that the film’s lead actress will be South sensation Sreeleela. Shooting will begin with her in October.
Pinkvilla has quoted a source saying that Sreeleela has come on board Mitti to play the female lead. “It’s a strong author-backed role for Sreeleela and the actress was in the lookout for a character like this. On reading the script, it was an instant yes from her end. She is excited to collaborate with Sid to start her journey in the Hindi Film Industry,” revealed a source.
The source further added that Mitti is expected to go on floors by October 2024 with a start-to-finish marathon schedule in North India. “The pre-production is going on in full swing and the makers are committed to take the film on floors in the winters. Mitti is a rooted action-family drama, a genre which explores the intense side of Sid, and the actor is also excited to step into this world of Balwinder Singh Janjua directorial,” the source added.
Earlier, Bollywood Hungama reports claims that Mitti is directed by Balwinder Singh Janjua and it is an action film being shot in Uttarakhand. Not willing to speak much on the project, Janjua said, “It is an action drama set in Uttarakhand. It is a story about guilt, about living with the baggage of guilt. It is the story of saving your home and your zameen, your mitti. It is about family and relationships.”
Talking about Sreeleela, she was reported to be starred in Varun Dhawan’s comedy film. In a statement to News18, Taurani said Sreeleela was not a part of the David Dhawan directorial film to begin with. He added that although the first schedule of the film is already done, the casting for a female lead is yet to be done.
“We have not yet approached anyone for the role. We are still in the process of finalizing the cast. The first schedule has just been completed, and we will make an official announcement once we have locked someone for that role. Until then, we request audiences not to believe any rumors,” Ramesh Taurani said.
In July, it was reported that the first schedule of the film has commenced. According to a report in Mid-day, the filming began on July 12 at Mehboob Studios in Bandra. As per the report, sources reveal that elaborate sets have been constructed for the initial indoor shoots, which are likely to focus on Varun Dhawan’s character. This initial phase will take place during the monsoon season, after which the production will shift to other locations.
