The film is celebrated for its unique blend of folklore and horror, and its atmospheric storytelling has earned it a cult following. Apart from Sohum Shah, the film also stars Jyoti Malshe as Vinayak’s mother, Anita Date-Kelkar as Vaidehi, Ronjini Chakraborty as Vinayak’s mistress, among others.
According to Pinkvilla, the film is set to hit theatres again on August 30. Notably, Tumbbad made history as the first Indian film to be showcased in the Critics’ Week section at the 75th Venice International Film Festival.
On the professional front, Sohum Shah will next appear in Adesh Prasad’s upcoming short film Demons. It is a queer-themed horror film that explores the idea of living with one’s demons. The story revolves around a man who offers a newly discovered ‘cure’ to help his friend rid himself of his haunting. While the haunting does cease, it comes with a gruesome price. It also stars Mohammad Samad and Sameer Khurana in pivotal roles. Sohum will be seen in director Girish Kohli’s upcoming thriller film Crazy.
