In the wake of the murder of Baba Siddique, former Maharashtra minister and senior NCP leader, Salman Khan received fresh threats. An unverified post claiming the responsibility over Siddique’s links with actor Salman Khan went viral. The post claimed that the political leader was killed due to his association with Salman Khan.
Meanwhile, Salman Khan’s father, veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, has claimed that there’s no connection between Baba Siddique’s death and Salman Khan. In a conversation with ABP News, Salim Khan said, “Nahi, mujhe nahi lagta hai ki isse koi taluk hai. Baba Siddique ka isse kya taluk hoga? Kisi bhi cheez ka bana dijiye. Aapne humko salaam nahi kiya, ab hum aapko maar denge. Aapne humko namaste nahi kiya, hum maar denge (No, I don’t think it has anything to do with this. What connection does Baba Siddique have to this? You can create anything you want. You didn’t greet us, so we will kill you. You didn’t say Namaste to us, and we will kill you).”
When asked about the idea that Baba Siddique was murdered for trying to protect Salman from Lawrence Bishnoi, Salim Khan pointed out that the police are also protecting Salman and his family. He added, “Isme kya hai? Har koi bachana chahta hai…Zindagi jo hai kabhi bhi ja sakti hai, kisi ki bhi jaa sakti hai (What’s the big deal? Everyone wants to save him… Life can be lost at any moment, for anyone).”
So far, three members have been arrested from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang for the murder of Baba Siddique last week. The third arrest was made in Pune when Praveen Lonkar, brother of gang member Shubham Lonkar, took responsibility for the murder by posting on Facebook. NCP leader Baba Siddique was shot outside his son MLA Zeeshan Siddique’s office in Bandra East on Saturday night. He was taken to Lilavati Hospital, but doctors declared him dead. Investigations showed that the attackers had been watching the area for 25-30 days before the attack.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Police has now deployed an escort vehicle to follow Salman Khan’s official car, with the Special Reserve Police Force (SRPF) stationed outside his Bandra and Panvel residences.
