At the trailer launch, Imtiaz was sharing anecdotes about their time working together when Imtiaz praised him. He said that his time has come and this is just the start. “You have already achieved so much but I can guarantee this, this is just your beginning. Wherever you go, we will be with you. I am very happy this freshness came into my life of doing this film. I am thankful to Netflix who took it up with equal love,” Imtiaz Ali said, leaving Diljit in tears.

Speaking with News18 Showsha earlier this month, Imtiaz said that he couldn’t imagine anyone but Diljit and Parineeti in the lead for the film. “It was mandatory for me to cast actors who are singers as well. It was important for them to sing live. This film wouldn’t have been possible without them. It’s not like Diljit didn’t train a lot like Parineeti did but he does live singing and is used to it. They both recorded the songs after singing them live. The reason behind this is that I’ve never had singers singing live during a shot. I thought that in case, the live singing doesn’t work out, we can always use the recorded version and use it as playback like we usually do,” he told us exclusively.

The film is produced by Mohit Choudhary, Select Media Holdings LLP, Saregama, and Window Seat Films. The music of the film is on Saregama. Amar Singh Chamkila premieres April 12, on Netflix.
