Mukesh Chhabra is a well-known casting director in Bollywood. Not many know that he owes a lot of his success to Suneil Shetty. In a podcast on YouTube, Mukesh revealed how Suniel helped him set up his old office. “When I started blossoming as a casting director, Suniel Shetty, who is one of the finest people in Mumbai, had a bungalow in Aram Nagar at number 160. At that time, I was doing a film with his daughter Athiya Shetty, Hero. He told me why are you working in such a small office, take my bungalow in Aram Nagar. I said I am under a lot of pressure. That’s when he said don’t worry, just keep doing good work. This man doesn’t tell anyone about the good deeds he is doing. He gifted me a huge bungalow in Aram Nagar. He said don’t worry about the rent. You have done so much for my daughter, just take this bungalow,” said Mukesh.
“I started my work there, decorated the new office, designed a new logo and inaugurated the office. When I did the inauguration, many actors came, like Rajkummar Rao. I worked with my close friends and built the company together. Gradually, we reached a stage where we now have offices in Chandigarh, Delhi and London.”
Athiya made her Bollywood debut in 2015 with Nikkhil Advani’s romantic drama Hero opposite Aditya Pancholi’s son Sooraj Pancholi. Since then, she has acted in films like Mubarakan and Motichoor Chaknachoor. She is now married to cricketer KL Rahul.
Athiya’s brother Ahan Shetty also made his Bollywood debut with Milan Luthria’s 2021 romantic action film Tadap. Suniel Shetty will next be seen in Ahmed Khan’s adventure comedy Welcome to the Jungle.
Mukesh Chhabra has handled casting for blockbusters like Dangal and globally known series like Sacred Games. He turned director with Dil Bechara, the last film of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
