For seven consecutive seasons, Kamal Haasan has hosted the reality show Bigg Boss Tamil and has done a great job at that time. But the actor has finally decided to hang his boots when it comes to the show. Last month, Kamal Haasan announced that after hosting Bigg Boss Tamil for seven seasons, he will be stepping down due to his commitments to various film projects. The actor also conveyed thanks to the viewers who have appreciated his presence on the small screen since he began hosting the show. Although he described this departure as a break, it remains uncertain when he will return to host again for upcoming seasons.
Following his statement, the big question was who would be skilled enough to fill such big shoes. The question has now been answered as Kamal Haasan’s Vikram co-star Vijay Sethupathi has been roped in to play host in the 8th season of the show. In a recent promotional video, the actor is showcased in a suit, gearing up for his role as the host of the show. The official social media account for the show introduced the update with the phrase, “Vandhaachu Pudhu Bigg Boss,” meaning, “The new Bigg Boss has arrived.”

On the work front, Vijay Sethupathi’s most recent film is Maharaja, directed by Nithilan Swaminathan. In this film, he plays a barbershop owner who raises his daughter alone. The two share a special bond with a steel garbage bin named Lakshmi, which once saved the daughter’s life. Their lives are disrupted when the bin is stolen during a robbery, leading the man to seek police help, which uncovers darker secrets. Vijay Sethupathi will also appear in the upcoming film Ace.
Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan, last seen in Indian 2, is currently filming Thug Life under the direction of Mani Ratnam. Additionally, he will reprise his role in the sequel Indian 3, expected to be released in 2025.
