Court Asks Elvish Yadav Not To Promote Violence, Dismisses FIR Against Him In Maxtern Attack Case
In March this year, a video of Elvish Yadav surfaced on social media in which he was seen slapping, kicking and beating Maxtern brutally.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has dismissed an FIR against Elvish Yadav for allegedly assaulting and threatening Sagar Thakur aka Maxtern. As reported by Live Law, the court also asked the YouTuber and Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner to refrain from depicting or promoting violence and substance abuse on social media.

“The FIR portrays that the motive for violence was some dispute regarding popularity and content creation in which allegations were levelled against Elvish Yadav and his accomplices. To ensure that similar violent acts are not repeated in the future, that impressionable followers do not get influenced of the misdemeanour exhibited by the accused persons. and that the accused are not under the mistaken belief that such instances are taken lightly by the legal system, this Court proposes to quash the FIR in question but with the imposition of certain condition,” Justice Anoop Chitkara noted.

The court further mentioned that violence portrayed in videos on social media influences societal perceptions and therefore must be condemned. “Such actual use of violence in a society cannot be accepted and needs to be condemned. Media influencers with a considerable audience must be sensitized to the message they impart through their actions to their susceptible followers and exhibit socially responsible behaviour,” it added.

In March this year, a video of Elvish Yadav surfaced on social media in which he was seen slapping, kicking and beating Maxtern brutally. Later, Thakur issued a video statement and accused Yadav of threatening him. “Bhaisaab, jaan se maarne ki dhamki de gaye hain. Main toh akela tha. Elvish bhai saath mein bahut saare bande laaye the. Toh iske main full video subah daaltu hu acche se. Sab dekhna kya hua. Hamare pass bhi recording hai. Main toh theek hu bas yahan (lip) par chot aaye hai. Yeh bhi 8 logo se ladne ke baad aaye hai,” he said. Thakur also filed an FIR against Yadav and claimed, “he tried to break my spine so that I will become physically disabled.”

Later, Elvish Yadav also issued a video statement explaining the “other side of the story”. He said that the incident was “pre-planned” as the complainant, Sagar had installed hidden microphones and cameras at the place of their meeting. He also claimed Thakur was harassing him for the past eight months by sharing negative posts about him. Elvish also alleged that Thakur threatened to burn him and his family alive which led to heated arguments.

However, Elvish and Maxtern resolved their fight later when the former also shared a happy picture of them on social media.
