Bigg Boss Tamil 8 Week 2 Round-up: Vijay Sethupathi Shuts Down a Bitter Arnav For His Graceless Exit
Vijay Sethupathi has made the show more interesting in just the two-weekend episodes, while the contestants fail to do so in the whole week.

Vijay Sethupathi as a Bigg Boss host received mixed responses from the audience after the first week. However, he quickly changed the conversation with the second week as the actor has evolved into a strict yet sarcastic host, who doesn’t shy away from making fun of the contestants whenever the opportunity shows. He is the sole reason for Season 8 of the Bigg Boss Tamil not becoming a snoozefest. Last week was entertaining because of Ravinder aka Fatman’s prank, which provided the much-needed content for the house to extract some drama. With him being eliminated, there was no one to carry forward his mantle.

Too many cry babies in the house:

Last weekend, Vijay Sethupathi came down heavily on the contestants for not being strict about the division of the house based on gender. He criticized both teams for going easy on each other. Taking notes from that, the Boys’ team became stringent resulting in many girls breaking down for unfair things. Jacquline was punished for taking washing liquid from the kitchen (Boy’s side) to her side, which resulted in the guys making her sit in isolation. She broke down for it, and that was just one of the many instances the VJ shed tears. On the other hand, Darsha, who was sent to the boy’s team as per the exchange rule was denied opportunities due to distrust from the men. This resulted in Darsha crying every day much to the annoyance of everyone in the team.

Sathya becomes captain, Darsha and Deepak swap houses:

The captaincy task tested the physical strength of the contestants, which was won by the ultra-fit Sathya, who faced immense competition from Pavithra. Sathya turned out to be a decent captain, whose effort to come across as a neutral leader for both teams became too obvious. As per the weekly exchange rule, Deepak was elected by the team to go to the women’s team, and Darsha was chosen by the girls to go to the other side. The two assured their allegiance to their respective gender and claimed they would work against their opponents from within.

Grocery shopping reveals the confidence level of both teams:

While the Boys’ team won the shopping task and got more points to shop, they exceeded the limit while shopping, leading to losing all the points. Bigg Boss eventually gave limited groceries for the guys for the whole week. On the other hand, while girls had decent points, they shopped only with one-third of their money. This revealed the disparity in the confidence level of both teams. While boys are overconfident about their abilities, women seem to be treading around eggshells and too careful for their own good.

King’s TV vs Queen’s TV, Ranking Task, and Nomination Free Pass:

As part of the weekly task, Bigg Boss asked both teams to come up with their own TV channels. They were asked to elect their own CEO, who will run the show. The TV channels conducted dance shows and more. The teammates and the judges chose the boys’ team as the winner of the contest.

Later, Bigg Boss asked the contestants to rank themselves from 1 to 17 with the approval of the teammates by votes. Muthukumaran was elected as No. 1, while Arnav volunteered to take the 17th rank.

Three competitions were announced by Bigg Boss as part of the Nomination Free Pass power, which will enable the team to save one contestant from the week’s elimination. Each tested different skill sets of the teams. The first task tested their general knowledge, and the Girls’ team came on top with the help of Deepak, who was swapped with Darsha. The second competition put the teamwork of the two groups to the test, and naturally, the Boys’ team won it. However, the third round, which tested the memory power of both the teams, was won by the Girls’ team as Arnav and Darsha made close to no effort in making the Boys’ team win.

Winning the Nomination Free Pass, the Girls’ team saved Jacquline from eviction.

Arnav leaves without grace:

Arnav ended with fewer votes and thereby was eliminated. The TV actor who was composed throughout the two weeks, showed his pent-up anger with the force he broke his award (as part of the elimination ritual) before exiting the house. While speaking to contestants from the stage, Arnav resorted to some uncouth words that were immediately criticised by Vijay Sethupathi. Arnav called the Boys’ team ‘Jalraas’ and mocked them for behaving like college kids in a condescending tone that left a bad aftertaste and showed what was truly behind Arnav’s composed demeanour.
