Anupam Kher Says Kangana Ranaut Slap Incident Is 'Unfortunate': 'Women of India Should React'
Anupam Kher has come out in support of Kangana Ranaut, condemning the slap incident involving a CISF woman constable and the actress-turned-politician.

Actor Anupam Kher has slammed Kulwinder Kaur, a CISF woman constable, who slapped actress-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut at Chandigarh airport on Thursday. The veteran actor has showed solidarity with Kangana, by condemning the CISF personnel’s act.

Reacting to the incident, Anupam told Instant Bollywood, “It’s very unfortunate. It shouldn’t have happened especially from someone who is a security personnel. Jo bhi grievances hai usko alag tarike se pesh karne chahiye. I feel women of India should react to it, not just because Kangana is an MP, but she is also a woman.” The incident comes days after Kangana, who contested Lok Sabha polls on BJP ticket, won from Mandi constituency, Himachal Pradesh.

Earlier, Anupam Kher congratulated Kangana on her maiden political win in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. Taking to Instagram, Anupam shared a reel with some of Kangana’s recent photos and penned a sweet message for her.

“My dearest #Kangana! CONGRATULATIONS on your HUGE Victory! You are a #ROCKSTAR. Your journey is so so inspirational! So happy for you and the people of #Mandi and #HimachalPradesh. You have proved time and again that if one is focused and works hard (then anything can happen),” he wrote.

Meanwhile, Shekhar Suman and Kangana’s ex, actor Adhyayan Suman, also condemned the incident while speaking to media on the sidelines of an event in Mumbai on Friday. “Wo bahut hi galat hai (That is very wrong),” Shekhar told reporters as Adhyayan nodded. Shekhar continued, “It is very unfortunate and this should not happen to anyone. It’s illegal what she (CISF woman constable) has done. She should definitely be punished. I could understand that she must have had some anger or complaint but this is not the right way to express it. She could have also done it in a civilised manner. You can’t raise your hand on anyone like this.”

The CISF suspended Kulwinder Kaur immediately after the incident and launched a departmental inquiry against her.
