Amitabh Bachchan Expresses Disappointment Over Novak Djokovic's Loss At Wimbledon: 'It Was Depressing'

Amitabh Bachchan shared his dismay at Novak Djokovic’s defeat to Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon 2024 finals. The actor took to social media to express his disappointment and also commended Carlos Alcaraz for his victory.

On Monday, Amitabh Bachchan took to his X(formerly Twitter) handle and penned, “T 5072 – SPAIN must be in celebration tonight ..Alcaraz of Spain, wins Wimbledon ; and Spain wins the EURO 24 , beating England 2-1 .. My favorite Djokovic lost , so it was depressing .. but he lost to a young player of some brilliance , Carlos Alcaraz .. but generous in defeat!”

The Wimbledon 2024 finals witnessed an enthralling match where Alcaraz secured a consecutive Wimbledon title by defeating Djokovic. Even though not physically present at Wimbledon, Bachchan’s post underscores his avid interest and enthusiasm for sports.

Apart from Amitabh, numerous other celebrities such as Kiara Advani, Sidharth Malhotra, and Kareena Kapoor, among others, extended their congratulations to Carlos for his significant triumph.

Meanwhile, Amitabh Bachchan revealed an incident from the sets of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). The actor, his blog, revealed he was meeting a family that had come together for a recording of an episode of KBC when he noticed that there was dirt on the ground. The superstar said that he bent to pick it up from the floor and it became a big ‘fuss’. He said that people lauded him for being ‘humble’ while he was just being normal.

“It is not being humble of setting example .. it’s just an act of extreme normality .. and the hullabalooo is deafening .. And the director saying it was one hellava thing that I asked him permission to go to the washroom during the shoot .. Yes I do need to take permission .. it is his set, his time , he is the Captain, I am the servant that has been employed, if I need to go for nature’s call , I must seek his permission .. !!!” Big B added.

On the professional front, Amitabh Bachchan was recently featured in Nag Ashwin’s ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ alongside Deepika Padukone, Prabhas, and Kamal Haasan. He is now preparing to venture into Tamil cinema with his debut in ‘Vettaiyan’.
