Alia Bhatt Praises Jigra Co-Star Vedang Raina, Says He Reminds Her Of Ranveer Singh: 'His Soul Is Deep-Rooted'
In a recent conversation with Jr NTR and Karan Johar, Alia praised Vedang's dedication, comparing his energy and approach to that of her Gully Boy co-star, Ranveer Singh.

Alia Bhatt is in full swing promoting her upcoming film Jigra, which co-stars Vedang Raina. During a recent conversation with Jr NTR and filmmaker Karan Johar, Alia opened up about her experience working with Vedang, who plays her on-screen brother in the film. Praising Vedang’s dedication and hard work, Alia revealed that his energy and approach reminded her of her Gully Boy co-star, Ranveer Singh.

“Vedang is fabulous. He is amazing. I don’t think he knows how amazing he is,” Alia said, adding that she noticed his talent during an emotional scene where he had to cry. “I told him when we did a very important scene, where he was crying, that one good thing is that you cry prettily and it’s a good thing for a Hindi film hero. He is so hardworking. He is also very instinctive but also has some sort of prep. He reminded me a lot of Ranveer Singh and I told him this as well.”

Alia went on to emphasize Vedang’s dedication, saying, “Just the way he is and his dedication. I think it is a huge compliment. The dedication and focus to the moment and the shot. Of course, he is his own person. He sings so beautifully. Vasan [Bala] and I would discuss this all the time that he is actually an old soul. I mean I would think I am an old soul but quite on the contrary, Vedang who is younger than me, is like 60! His soul is very deep-rooted and centred. He has a lot of depth in him, which I think will take him really far.”

Vedang made his acting debut in The Archies, directed by Zoya Akhtar, which premiered on Netflix last year. Meanwhile, Jigra, directed by Vasan Bala, is described as a thriller centered around a sister’s love and the lengths she will go to protect her brother. The film, co-produced by Alia and her sister Shaheen Bhatt’s Eternal Sunshine Productions along with Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, also stars Manoj Pahwa.

The teaser of the film opens with Alia Bhatt having a drink in a hotel and talking about her brother. She reveals how her mother died, following which her father died by suicide. Relatives offered them shelter, but it came at a cost. While talking, she refers to the person sitting opposite her as Mr Bhatia and says that her brother has very little time as she gulps down the drink. Her decision leads her to very dangerous paths where she has to fight, escape gunshots, prevent taking her own life and yet find a way to reach her brother. The teaser also shows a few glimpses of their past and happy memories.
