Laapataa Ladies, directed by Kiran Rao, saw its theatrical release on March 1, 2024. Upon its release, the film garnered rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. Celebrities also poured in love with Rao’s directorial prowess and the stellar performances by the cast of the film. The film was released on Netflix on April 26. As the film continues to win hearts, actress Alia Bhatt took to her social media handle to share her thoughts and opinions on the family drama.
After watching the film, Alia took to her Instagram stories and wrote, “Such a wonderful time at the movies. The movie is adapted from Biplab Goswami’s award-winning novel. Kiran Rao’s directorial features Sparsh Shrivastava, Pratibha Ranta, Nitanshi Goel, and Ravi Kishan in the lead roles. The movie takes viewers back to rural India in 2001. Its narrative revolves around two brides who get exchanged during a train journey. The journey, filled with twists and turns, begins as their husbands start searching for the real bride.
Made under the banners of Aamir Khan Productions and Kindling Productions, the film marked the directorial comeback of Kiran Rao after Dhobi Ghat. Before its theatrical release, the film was screened at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in 2023. It received a standing ovation from the audience present at the festival.
On the work front, Alia Bhatt has completed the shoot of her next film, Jigra. In January, Sanjay Leela Bhansali left all fans in surprise when he announced his next film, Love and War, with Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, and Vicky Kaushal. The film reunites Bhansali and Kapoor after 17 years and marks the filmmaker’s first film with Kaushal. Bhansali reunites with Bhatt after the success of Gangubai Kathiawadi. The film is slated to release on Christmas 2025.
