In India, Pakistan and Bangladesh too, the Holy Month of Ramzan will start from Tuesday, March 12.  It is believed that during the month of Ramadan, the first verses of the holy book of the Quran were revealed to the prophet Muhammad.

During this month, Muslims observe fast from dawn to dusk. Keeping fast during Ramzan is considered one of the five pillars of Islam. Whether Muslims will observe 29 or 30 fasts is based on the sighting of the moon, which is crucial in deciding the beginning and the ending of the month. After the end of the month of Ramadan, Muslims celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr.
