These designs are truly enamouring.

New Delhi: Designer Sabyasachi opened the five day long Amazon India Couture Week in collaboration with French footwear designer Christian Louboutin. The collection was called Bater. The couturier wanted to do a collection that was inspired by hunting birds because he really liked the resilience and the colour palette of this bird. As the models trooped in wearing his exquisite range on the ramp, it was everything that we expected from the ace couturier and the iconic red soles by Christian Louboutin spruced it up further.

Speaking about his collection, the 41-year-old designer said, “My collection is named Bater. It is basically one of the most common hunting birds in India. Though it is very common but I like the resilience and the colour palette of Bater. I wanted to do a collection that was inspired by hunting birds. Wanted to keep it dark, gothic, sexual but with very fine, intricate Indian embroidery.”

“We used a lot of hand embroidery from different parts of India. A lot of zari, zardozi and parsi work and very fine resham ka kaam. All sorts of traditional Indian embroidery but interpreted in a very modern way," said the designer while highlighting on the embroidery work.

Talking about Sabyasachi’s collection footwear designer Christian Louboutin said, “He showcased a beautiful collection. Of course I knew his work before I attended his show, but his collection was certainly fabulous.”

The show was at the backdrop of an old and dilapidated mansion referencing India’s royal hunts. Music was composed by Sabyasachi Art Foundation.

This was for the first time that an International footwear designer collaborated with an Indian designer.
