Putting an end to speculation on his future plans former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa said: “I might have been humbled by my-own party members both at the state and the national level but I will not leave the party or form a new political outfit in the state.”
Speaking to mediapersons here on Tuesday the BJP leader, who was forced out of office following his indictment by the Karnataka Lokayukta in illegal mining case, said, “My only target is to strengthen the party’s rank and file and bring the party to power in the next Assembly elections.”
Ruling out any possibilities of early elections in Karnataka, the former Chief Minister said, “I see no any threat to the stability of the Jagadish Shettar government.”
However, Yeddyurappa said that the Election Commission may take a decision to hold elections before completion of the Assembly term, which would end on May 2014.
Stating that he will not clamour for any party posts, the former Chief Minister said that the proposed state-wide tour would be undertaken under the party banner and expressed his confidence that party workers and the leaders at the grassroot level would rally behind him.
Describing the drought situation as very grim and alarming, he said that if the party fails to meet the affected people and hear their grievances then it may lose their faith and would have to pay a heavy price.
Yeddyurappa said during his proposed state-wide tour that he would start in the second week of August he would appeal to the people to pardon any laxity found on the part of the government.
