The arrival of senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley in Bangalore sparked off speculations in political circles that the chief troubleshooter of the party was here to mollify former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa.
Sources in the party, however, dismissed these speculations saying the Rajya Sabha Opposition Leader was here as the chief guest at the national hockey tournament organised by Hockey India.
“His schedule was fixed a fortnight ago,’’ a top source in the BJP said.
The speculations, however, gained more credence when the former CM boarded a train to Shimoga. ‘’I have prior engagements. If necessary I will hold talks with party leaders at Delhi,’’ he said, dismissing rumours that his Shimoga trip was planned in haste.
He will return on Thursday.
Sources, however, said he didn’t want to meet any leader as “there was no point in talking to them”. Yeddyurappa has been threatening to quit the party accusing the BJP top brass of not keeping their promises to him.
Meanwhile, sources said Jaitley, who is a strong supporter of Yeddyurappa, will speak to him on Tuesday over phone. On his arrival in Bangalore, Jaitley spoke to Deputy CMs K S Eshwarappa and R Ashok besides state BJP organising secretary Santosh and RSS leader M P Kumar about Yeddyurappa’s recent outbursts
