HYDERABAD: Amid tight security and drama, the body of M Yadi Reddy, who allegedly committed suicide near the Parliament on Wednesday for separate Telangana, was shifted to his native place Pedamangalaram village in Moinabad mandal on Thursday.Police prevented the media from entering Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) at Shamshabad when the body landed in Hyderabad from New Delhi.Meanwhile, a total bandh was observed in Moinabad mandal since Thursday morning as a sign of respect for the youngster who sacrificed his life for separate Telangana.In view of Telangana Joint Action Committee’s (TJAC) plan to take out Yadi Reddy’s body in a rally to the Martyr’s Memorial at Gun Park, Cyberabad police deployed additional forces on the roads leading to the airport to prevent T-activists from reaching there. Roads leading to the airport from Srisailam route and from Shamshabad side were cordoned off and central paramilitary forces including Rapid Action Force (RAF) were deployed. Nearly 4,000 policemen were deployed on the roads leading from the airport to Moinabad, sources said.Meanwhile, hundreds of TRS, BJP, TDP and pro-Telangana activists tried to enter the airport but were prevented by the police at the main entrance.Media personnel were also stopped on the roads leading to the airport.A mild scuffle also ensued there due to this.The activists squatted on the road and demanded resignation of Union minister S Jaipal Reddy. Police took the protesting Telangana activists and media personnel into custody and shifted them to Rajendranagar and Pahadisharief police station.“We have specific information that the agitators might attack OB vans of some media organisations.We prevented the media personnel from entering the premises as a precautionary measure,” a senior police officer said.Yadi Reddy’s body landed around 7.30 p.m and police quickly bundled it off in an ambulance. According to sources, a convoy of ambulances was taken out with policemen occupying them as a precautionary measure.The body was shifted via the Srisailam road side entrance of the airport. From there, the body was taken through Tukkuguda, Outer Ring Road, AP Police Academy route to Pedamangalaram village in Moinabad.The body was placed at a local school in the village for people to pay their respects.The village and its outskirts were fortified with additional forces in view of the funeral on Friday. Several political leaders are likely to take part in the funeral.Meanwhi le, OUJAC extended its support to the TJAC’s bandh on Friday and asked people to hold candle light rallies as a mark of respect for Yadi Reddy’s sacrifice.
