Woman set afire by sister

CHENNAI: A woman, who was set ablaze at her house in Kodungaiyur on Monday, succumbed to her burns the same night. Three persons, including her sister, were arrested over the murder.Sources said, S Shanthi was a resident of Muthamizh Nagar. After her husband Shankar passed away, she came into contact with a lorry owner Damodaran of the same locality. Shanthi’s sister Y Devi also became friendly with Damodaran, who was married and had three kids, leading to a rift between the sisters.On Monday night, following a tiff between the two women, Devi, her husband Yuvaraj and Damodaran allegedly doused Shanthi with kerosene and set her afire. On the basis of her daughter Sharadha’s complaint, the  trio were arrested.
