The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission’s Combined Civil Services Examination – I (Group – I Services) has been completed recently. Shanthi IAS Training Academy’s coordinator Ramesh has talked about the approximate cut off mark of group 1 exam. Ramesh told the Local 18 Tamil that if the candidates can answer 135 or more questions correctly, out of 200 questions in Group-1 exam, then they will be eligible to write mains exam. According to the coordinator, this year’s Group 1 Exam Question Paper had very high quality questions. He said that the aspirants had easily understood the questions in this paper and answered them. According to him, the candidates can easily answer such questions when they have read science, economy and current affairs of the country.
The Combined Civil Services examination was held across Tamil Nadu for 92 vacant posts such as Deputy Collector and Assistant Superintendent of Police. This examination was also conducted for the posts of Assistant Commissioner and Assistant Director of Rural Development.
It is noteworthy that in the Group 1 examination held this year, half of the candidates did not appear for the exam. Shanthi IAS Training Academy’s coordinator had said earlier, “Only around 1.9 lakh candidates have registered for the Group 1 examination. This will be held in three categories namely Prelims, Mains and Interview. 200 questions were asked in the Prelims exam which had a total weightage of 300 marks. Every question in the exam is of 1.5 marks and there is no negative marking in it. It is an objective type exam.”
Ramesh said that the quality of the TNPSC exam’s question paper is increasing every year. According to him, this year’s question paper was very standard, compared to last year’s paper. He added that the Group-1 Exam is the most respected and important exam in Tamil Nadu and graduates can write this exam.
As per Ramesh, the participants could easily prepare for TNPSC Group 1, 4, 2 exams 10 years ago. He said that now the competition level and the quality of the question papers has increased. He added that 1 out of 20 candidates is expected to clear the prelims exam.
