Kolkata: A class 6 student was first attacked with acid and then raped by two boys in West Bengal's Bardhaman district on Monday night. The incident took place when the girl was returning from school. Two boys allegedly stopped her on the way and first threw acid on her and then raped her.
When the girl reached home and told her family members, they took her to the police station. But the police reportedly failed to act.
The police inaction led to a violent protest by the girl's family and the residents of the area. They blocked roads and also set several vehicles on fire. According to reports at least 50 vehicles were either damaged or set on fire by the protesting mob.
