TIRUCHY: Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers M K Alagiri, who predicted that the AIADMK would not exist after the 2011 elections, on Monday came out with another prophecy, saying that the DMK would win the Tiruchy West by-election.Alagiri, after visiting the DMK functionaries, including MLAs KC Palanisamy and Soundarapandian, at the Central Prison here, told reporters that the party would end up as the winner in the bypoll. “We field candidates only to win” Alagiri asserted, when scribes asked him about the by-election.However, he evaded questions on whether he would campaign for the bypoll and simply said “that should be decided by the party high command”.On DMK chief M Karunanidhi’s charge that the State Election Commission (SEC) was functioning in a biased manner, he said “not only the DMK chief, but also leaders of various political parties are making similar charges against the SEC.”
