HYDERABAD: It was all glitz and glamour at the All-India model audition of the Blenders Pride Hyderabad International Fashion Week (BP HIFW).Hyderabad witnessed an assortment of style from aspiring models who came down to the city from all over India.This one-day affair aimed at identifying models with attitude, flair and an oomph factor.This audition was a first-of-its-kind which brought together different facets of the fashion industry, that included models, designers and photographers.About 25 girls and 51 boys registered themselves for the auditions held in the city. A major lot of them were from the city, and the others had come down from places like Kerala, Chennai, Bangalore, Pune, Mumbai and Kolakata.Talking about the judges, the HIFW jury panel comprised of members from the film fraternity as well as the fashion industry.Brand ambassador of the Hyderabad International Fashion Week Rana Daggubati and Madhushalini, a South-Indian actress and an ex-model, fashion designers Asmita Marwa and Shashikanth Naidu and fashion photographer, Sarath Shetty, were a part of the panel.The first round started off with all the contestants walking the ramp and by the end of it, about 15 boys and girls were shortlisted for the second round. The jury members judged the contestants on style, attitude, walk and confidence. At the end of the second round, there were nine each short-listed from the men and women category.The selected ones will walk the ramp at the Blenders Pride Hyderabad International Fashion Week, to be held from October 19 to 23. Talking about the contestants, actress Madhushalini said, “The contestants have been very promising and it is nice to see so much talent.It was hard to decide, but we have short-listed a few.” Even designer Asmita Marwa agreed with the fact that the contestants were pretty promising. Representing Hyderabad globallyOn one hand, while the BP HIFW has been formed to give Indian designers an international platform to showcase and market their collections to the Indian media and fashion professionals globally, on the other hand, it also aims at showcasing Hyderabad as an important fashion destination for buyers and designers and bring prominence and identity to the South Indian fashion market. Commenting on this, BP HIFW brand ambassador Rana Daggubati said, “This is an opportunity to present the modelling world with fresh faces.We have to bring more and more such events to the city, in order to put Hyderabad on the fashion map.It also has to emerge as a market and try and be in the forefront of the fashion industry like that of Bangalore and Mumbai.” Talking on the similar lines, fashion designer Sashikant Naidu said, “Such events are meant to do good fro Hyderabad.City models have to stand at par from the models coming from other places.All we have to focus on grooming more city girls to represent India on a global stage.”
